PRESIDENTIAL PRETENDER

The question of whether President Obama is a native born American citizen has been made moot by the cowardice and lack of patriotic concern of the news media and the Democrat and Republican parties. None of the three have demonstrated honest interest in or shown the intestinal fortitude needed to squarely face the challenge of sorting out whether there is deceit and duplicity in this "birther" business, and whether those involved are placing their own comfort, welfare and personal interests above those of the United States of America. In short, it's time to fish or cut bait and let the scraps fall where ever they fall.

Will all the documents, laws, treaties, agreements and executive orders Obama has signed since he was sworn in as President be null and void? If so, what happens then? If he is an illegitimate pretender to the Presidency and not the real thing how does the nation avoid a national calamity, pick up the pieces of what's left of our trembling civilization, and lawfully proceed about our business? Can we proceed? Certainly not, especially with the continued timidity and indifference of political and governmental leadership that has been shown so far in the handling of this matter.

President Obama is toying with America; with its citizens, with the Congress, with the Constitution, and with our nation's future as though this were some kind of electronic game. Politically both parties have become so near sighted that they can't seem to feel the edge of the cliff crumbling beneath the soles of their shoes as they march on toward certain disaster.

Evidently they believe they no longer need to prepare for worst case scenarios. What if Obama turns out to be merely an unqualified pretender to the presidency? How will these Members of Congress protect themselves from having done nothing? What will they tell their constituents?

What will they say to them about the Army officer who was courts marshaled and imprisoned for months simply because he questioned the legality of the Obama presidency? Will they tell their constituents why they didn't hold a single hearing, why they didn't think it worth their time to inquire into whether the charges were true; will they be able to sweep their inaction and indifference under the proverbial rug? How could they have let this happen, and how will they be able to protect themselves from an angry citizenry and still get reelected?

How does the news media explain to its audience its lack of interest in reporting serious news and in qualifying President Obama? Four years ago in its obsession to elect a black president, the media gave the American public a really good taste of what it is like when the media sheds the fig leaf of integrity and neutrality, and unabashedly started selling its soul to a political Party.

Since then the sale has been consummated and the news media has become nothing more than a "repeat the Democrat talking points" puppet. The once reliable source of information for American citizens has sold its soul for less than thirty pieces of silver. Were those two great news men Huntley-Brinkley still alive today, they would weep.

How did we get to this sorry state of affairs? We seem no longer able to think straight. It is like Senator McCain declaring four years ago that mentioning Senator Obama's Muslim upbringing was somehow unfair, how preposterous. It cost McCain the presidency. It is also like Governor Romney pretending that it is somehow ungentlemanly to explore, during this year’s election cycle, President Obama's twenty-year relationship with Rev. Wright.

What is wrong with these people? This isn't a game of tidily winks! This is war; it is a fight to the death, take off the kid gloves. In November one political gladiator will stride off the field victorious and the other will be carried off on his shield.

The outcome of this election will not only decide who will be the President of the United States of America, but whether America will continue to be the world's leader. No election has had more riding on its outcome than this election of 2012.

For the past fifty years the U.S. has led the world because that has been its destiny. It is what President Reagan meant when he referred to the U.S. as a "Shining City on a Hill," lighting the way for other nations to find the path that leads to freedom, knowledge and prosperity.

By divine intervention America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, the premiere democratic republic in the world. If the U.S. fails or collapses, freedom and liberty worldwide will fail and collapse. There is no other nation in the world that can fill the shoes of the United States.

The America we know and love exists only because our Founders had faith in a Constitutional vision. It is our mission to continue to uphold, enforce and protect that Constitutional vision and the liberties it guarantees to its citizens.

Right after the conclusion of the Civil War the author and poet Josiah Gilbert Holland could have been talking about this year's presidential election when he wrote, "Give us Men! A time like this demands strong minded, great hearts, true faith and ready hands. Men whom the lust of office does not kill; whom the spoils of office cannot buy ... Men who have honor; men who will not lie."

These are the kinds of leaders we need today, not corrupt politicians who are secretly laughing as they play mind games with our citizens. We need statesmen, those who are brutally honest, those who refuse to quibble over such things as the authenticity of birth certificates, and those who will lay all their evidence face up on the table and call it what it is.

We don't need any more pretenders.
